The 2010 Certeco Swindon 2 Paris ride has now been completed - and what a fantastic event!!

The vast majority of the 20 participants completed the 350 mile 4 day ride setting off from Swindon in Wiltshire, across the Normandy beaches and down to the French capital. Riders of varying abilities took up the challenge and to date have raised in excess of £10,000! To see more details of the 2010 trip see below.

The event organisers are so pleased with the success of the 2010 event that we have decided to run even more trips in 2011! These will take place around mid September. Taking on board the experiences of 2009 and 2010, together with participant feedback these trips will only get better - if that is possible!

Please register your interest in this trip by emailing admin@swindon2paris.co.uk

We will also be offering event sponsorship packages, so if you are interested in being associated with either (or both!!) of these trips please let us know.

So it is all now over. The team covered 361 miles in 4 days cycling from Swindon 2 Paris to raise money for Winston’s Wish. I would like to Thank everyone for their support and kind donations. To date we estimate we have raised in excess of £1,800, which by any standard is fantastic. The Just Giving web page will remain open for 3 months for others that wish to support this very deserving charity.

I also need to make a special Thank You to Mrs Brierley, the staff and children at Catherine Wayte Primary School – their enthusiasm in the run up to the event and the superb send off was very touching. Barnaby the Bear also enjoyed the trip and having his company was a pleasure. Also, my father in law “ Jimm’ll” the driver. Although perhaps considered as “behind the scenes” he was an invaluable member of the team, at the top of every climb with a replenishment of energy drinks etc. He saved the day many times by getting us booked in to our hotels (while we were still riding) where we would have lost our rooms without him! And of course Giles – the website man who kept you all updated while we were enjoying ourselves in France.

Thanks to all our other sponsors who contributed and supported  the event.

Yes -  this took a reasonable amount of planning, (which I thoroughly enjoyed), amongst all the training in the run up to the event.
Yes – it was a worthwhile experience
Yes – there will be another event for those that have asked and want to join us next time
Yes – I will have a rest from cycling for a day or 2 – before building up for a summer of Triathlons!

Please take some time to enjoy our pictures and videos and of course give me a call as I would love to talk about the experience some more

Mark
